Katherine Griffin graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2003 with a BA Hons in Fine Art Painting. She now lives and works in Brighton. Her intensely colourful paintings and drawings explore nostalgia and dreamscapes. Evoking a pop psychedelia with a dark edge, she toys with references from books, films and visual culture that envelope a fictitious space that nonetheless resonates with the real. She creates characters which are playful but also unsettling, exploring the caverns of this uncanny realm. Katherine Griffin won the Slade Life Drawing Prize in 2000. Although figures still appear in her work, she guides them through ever-evolving narratives often sharing stories with animals.
